Georgia Medical Board License Service

The Georgia Medical Board has a standard licensure process, one which historically takes between 2.5 to 3.5 months from the time the application is submitted to the date where the license is issued. However, depending on the time of year submitted, this application can take 4 to 9 months.

A Temporary Medical License is available once the Georgia Medical Board has acknowledged receipt of all required documentation. This temporary license will allow the physician to practice while waiting for the board meeting to occur, normally held at the beginning of each month.

The Temporary Georgia Medical License is only issued after the file is complete. The Temporary is only issued after the State sends written notice to the physician that the file is complete. Then the physician has to file the temp application with payment. This cannot be filed before the letter is received. After the letter is received, the temporary license is issued 7 to 10-days later. By this time, the Board meeting has arrived and the license is issued. The temporary license is very rarely utilized with the Georgia Medical Board. All files must be deemed complete approximately 2-3 weeks before the Board meeting to be placed on the agenda.

Georgia Medical Board has tightened their approval process somewhat over the past 24 months regarding negative or unclean physician files. Specifically Physicians with negative information such as State Actions, Arrests, Disciplinary Actions, and large gaps in history. For Physicians with significant file challenges, we can recommend a Leading Licensure Attorney who specializes in Licensure and Disciplinary Actions with the Georgia Medical Board. This attorney will not handle the administration of the licensure process. Rather, they will author statements on the applicant’s behalf, deal with the Board Management, advise the physician concerning requests, and challenges with Georgia.

Additional Georgia Medical Board Licensing Information: will support a fast-tracked Georgia Medical License submission and approval. The Board Members are typically accessible and the Board processes applications quickly. There is no Mandatory Board appearance requirement. Fingerprint Background checks are also not required.

The Georgia Medical Board is physician-friendly and helpful with a streamlined process. Thank you Georgia Medical Board!
